Putting Byte into a Fitness Regime

When Fitness Becomes Personal

Computers are one of the many things blamed for the lack of healthy living today. But there are some places on the internet that are all about fitness.

Netfit.co.uk is a free, online fitness site that provides comprehensive information on all aspects of fitness and healthy living.

Team fitness champions in 2002 and 2003, the Netfit fitness team consists of dedicated athletes who have been at the highest level of their chosen sports.

Combining their extensive fitness experience, athletes such as ex-Royal Marine Commandos Roscoe Nash and Steve Quick, Miss Physique champion Christine Tooze, and ex-Australian serviceman Adam Horder, have created a site with all the information you need to get healthy.

All that you need is the motivation.

But what if you don't have the time to get to the gym, or want to get fit but are not much of an athlete?

Netfit.co.uk has pages of exercises, fitness programs and healthy living tips that can be done outside, at home or even in the office. So if you are struggling to balance work, family and a social life, you need not let your health suffer.

Another site that aims to get ordinary people fit and healthy is www.bodyguardsapt.com Launched in January www.bodyguardsapt.com is the online arm of BodyGuards, the personal fitness service, which is based in Jesmond, Newcastle.

Established by Steve Denby in 1993, BodyGuards is the only personal training service of its kind in the region and has a client list that includes Lady Mae Hall and former Newcastle United captain Bobby Moncur.

Steve says: "Our country is renowned for long office hours and lack of personal time compared to our European counterparts. Some say that this accounts for the increased cardiovascular disease, obesity and ill health in the UK compared to other regions of the Continent. Yet it is surprisingly easy to increase our general feelings of wellbeing by minor adjustments to our daily routines."

The biggest difference between BodyGuards and other gyms is that you receive one to one, personal training as standard.

Steve explains: "Here at BodyGuards your lifestyle is taken into consideration and we also offer diet and nutritional advice along with your exercise regime."

BodyGuards gym manager Nick Probett adds: "We wanted a website to show people having fun, not bursting a blood vessel in the gym, and that is exactly what Mancala have created.

"We want to attract people who are devoted to making a change in their lifestyle, who are willing to listen and give 100pc effort." BodyGuards offers an initial wellness assessment that is two hours long and which allows the personal trainers at the gym to put together a fitness program that is tailor-made for you.

Nick says: "A client I've been working with for two years told me the other day that every session is something he's never done before and it's that variation that we have over other gyms."

Another excellent site is www.fitness-advice.co.uk which has detailed information on popular diets, fitness products and sports drinks that dispels many common myths about getting fit.

The internet may just have the solution to fit your busy lifestyle.
